How much can I expect to pay for your advisory services?
The investment world has never appeared more complex and daunting. New financial products are regularly pushed at investors by salesmen and often without regard to personal circumstance. The media regularly bombards investors with notoriously short focussed ‘glee’ or ‘panic’ stories. Then there are the unfortunate investors who’ve found themselves the victim of financial fraud.
It appears a discouraging landscape to navigate, yet it’s really quite simple. If you acknowledge markets are unpredictable, but their rewards can be captured; if you don’t fall prey to media distraction; and if you don’t expose yourself to unproven methods, it is possible to have a successful investment experience. At Spencer Private Wealth we don’t take unnecessary risks and we don’t adopt unproven strategies – we focus on what drives investment returns. When investing for clients we focus on these key principles:
Markets work
Risk and reward are related
Diversification reduces Investment Risk
Asset Allocation determines performance
Maintaining discipline.
What is your investment approach?
Gary Spencer has over 30 years’ experience in dealing with a wide range of clients. Clients include those with complex financial management needs - resulting from estates, aged care, special needs, dealing with loss or potential loss of a partner. The high net worth clients we service prefer to spend time on their own creative pursuits or in other areas of life, desire accountability with elements of their finances, and some wish to totally outsource elements of their financial life. Other clients who are coming up to retirement, or who are already retired, wish to carefully plan and protect their retirement nest egg with more certainty, and to optimise their strategies and ensure a tax effective transfer of their wealth to the next generation.
In addition, Gary’s clients include people whose financial plans need to accommodate children or family members with special needs (see Gary’s website relating to this at www.spectrumplanning.com.au). Our particular focus is to help relieve the burden on the family of dealing with the finances of someone with additional needs. Our role can include coordinating with other professionals in the running of Special Disability Trusts, and are suitable for families wanting a high touch service in this area.
What type of clients do you work with?
This will depend on the level of service you choose but generally it will require a minimum of one face-to face meeting a year and often more often depending your needs and requirements.
